Brampton needs better end-of-life care

Hospice Palliative Care

A home-like residence providing compassionate and personalized end-of-life care for individuals in their last months and weeks of life. End-of-Life Care consists of those nearing the end of their life or in the advanced stage of a terminal illness.

There is an urgent need to better care for people dying in our community

While most cities in Ontario have a hospice residence to support their community, the City of Brampton has 0 hospice. The city is one of the fastest growing and most diverse communities in Canada with a senior growing population. This is a growing concern.

The overwhelming majority of Canadians prefer to die in a home-like setting. The reality is over 60% of people still die in hospitals, often without the peace, specialized care and support that they, and their loved ones deserve.
