Let’s Build the First Hospice in Brampton, Canada!

We are celebrating a triumphant inaugural fundraiser – a High Tea and Silent Auction held on April 14! All proceeds will go towards building Brampton’s first hospice – the Kay Blair Hospice (KBH).

On behalf of the KBH Board of Directors, we are extremely grateful for the overwhelming support that helped us raise close to $20K at our almost sold-out High Tea and Silent Auction event attended by 70 guests. Not bad for our first event and that, too, was entirely volunteer-run!

In one of the fast-growing and diverse cities in Canada, Brampton now has a population of approximately 880K. According to hospice standards, we should have at least 56 hospice beds; sadly, we have none. 100% of Brampton’s end-of-life residents have to go outside the city for a hospice bed and care.

Our heartfelt appreciation to Mayor Patrick Brown, Councillors Paul Vicente and Navjit Kaur Brar, our dedicated core committee, and our generous sponsors, including Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery by Arbor Memorial, GWD Professional Planners, Meena Karunaker Right at Home Canada, and Per Homer with Cl Assante Wealth Management. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge our gracious host and sponsor, Pauline Wainright, from the Meadowvale Cemetery and Funeral Home.

A big shoutout to all who came including Professor Yew Thong from Toronto Metropolitan University, Harinder Malhi from Sheridan College, Indus Community Services, Rotary Club of Brampton, and countless others. We are excited for the future and the fundraising endeavors ahead! We already have the land generously donated by the Mayor and the City Council. Now we need your help to build.
